The Dermamelan Peel is a powerful depigmenting treatment by Mesoestetic that diminishes the appearance of pigmentation and prevents its reappearance using key organic acids. These work to inhibit melanin production and boost cell turnover for a renewed and even complexion.
Hyperpigmentation occurs when there is an overproduction of melanin. There are many factors that contribute to its formation, such as hormones, inflammatory conditions, excessive sun exposure, and certain medications. Suitable for all skin types, Dermamelan is renowned for its ability to lift even the most stubborn kinds of pigmentation, with research showing a 95% chance of reducing pigmentation.
It helps treat the following:
The Dermamelan Peel works to inhibit the Tyrosinase enzyme which is responsible for melanin synthesis, therefore ensuring pigmentation is under control by reducing its accumulation. Ingredients such as Hydroquinone, Kojic Acid and Azelaic Acid work together to exfoliate the skin, reduce the number of melanocytes present on the skin, and decrease tyrosinase activity. Its effectiveness can be observed after just one month, with most people seeing an 80% improvement.
Prior to starting treatment, you will come in for a consultation with one of our treatment coordinators, who will give you a diagnosis by assessing your skin and taking note of the history of your skin condition. Once decided whether you are suitable for treatment or not, they will provide you with a detailed treatment plan involving the procedure steps, your homecare routine, and protocol.
1. In-Clinic Phase
The treatment time is 45-60 minutes. First, the therapist will deeply cleanse the skin and then apply the Dermamelan mask. This is left on for 8-12 hours, depending on your skin type and its severity. We always advise clients to come in for treatment in the morning so that it can be washed off at an appropriate time, as we do not recommend sleeping with the mask on. As the mask is removed with water, it is normal to feel a tingling or stinging sensation.
2. At-Home Phase
Peeling will continue for 5-7 days. As this occurs, your skin may feel tight, dry, red and swollen. It's extremely important not to pick on the skin, as this can damage the skin underneath and affect results. Strict aftercare involves using the Dermamelan maintenance cream for 3 months, alongside daily SPF application and avoidance of sun exposure.
