Where do you see lines?
Expression lines form where the same muscles move thousands of times a day. Choose an area to see what treatment does there and what to expect.
Frown lines
The lines between your brows, sometimes called glabellar lines.
- What you notice
- Lines that deepen when you concentrate or frown, and can make you look tired or cross when you are neither.
- What it does
- Relaxes the small muscles that draw your brows together, so the lines soften and your expression looks more at ease.
- Good to know
- Lines that are still there when your face is completely relaxed may need a different approach alongside, such as dermal fillers.
Forehead lines
The horizontal lines across your forehead, often called worry lines.
- What you notice
- Lines that appear when you raise your eyebrows, and over time start to stay.
- What it does
- Softens the movement that creates them, smoothing the forehead without surgery or downtime.
- Good to know
- The forehead is often planned together with frown lines, so your brows stay balanced and natural.
Crow’s feet
The fine lines at the outer corners of your eyes, sometimes called laughter lines.
- What you notice
- Lines that fan out when you smile and become more visible as the skin around the eyes loses elasticity.
- What it does
- Smooths the lines around the eyes while you keep your smile. We all need to laugh.
- Good to know
- Treatment takes less than 30 minutes, and the effect builds over the following two weeks.
Brow lift
A gentle lift for brows that have started to droop.
- What you notice
- As collagen decreases, the brows can begin to sit lower or sag, which makes the eyes look heavier.
- What it does
- Lifts and smooths the brow in a minimally invasive treatment, an alternative to a surgical brow lift.
- Good to know
- Your doctor examines how your brow muscles move first, so the lift suits the shape of your face.
Jawline and neck
For a softer jawline and droopy jowls, usually as part of a combined plan.
- What you notice
- A jawline that has lost its definition and neck muscles that pull the lower face downwards.
- What it does
- Relaxes and balances the muscles in the neck, while dermal fillers restore volume, for a more defined jawline.
- Good to know
- This is planned at your consultation as a combination, rather than anti-wrinkle injections on their own.
Underarm sweating
For excessive underarm sweating, also called hyperhidrosis.
- What you notice
- Sweating that goes well beyond what the day calls for, and that strong antiperspirants do not control.
- What it does
- The same treatment blocks the signals to the sweat glands in the underarms, significantly reducing sweating.
- Good to know
- A quick 30 minute treatment. Read more about treating excessive sweating.
Every plan is tailored to your face, how your muscles move and the result you would like. Your doctor will talk you through which areas will make the difference you are hoping for.
Plan yours at a consultationHow do anti-wrinkle injections work?
When you laugh, frown or raise your eyebrows, your brain sends a signal to the muscles that create the expression. Over the years, as skin loses its elasticity, those same movements leave lines behind.
Anti-wrinkle injections use a highly purified protein that blocks those signals to the targeted muscle, so it relaxes and the line above it softens. Because a very fine needle is used, treatment is precise, and only the areas you choose are treated.
Frown lines, forehead lines and crow’s feet that appear with expression soften as the muscle relaxes.
Lines that stay when your face is still, or a loss of volume, may also need dermal fillers, Profhilo or polynucleotides.
- A medical treatment, led by doctorsAnti-wrinkle injections are a prescription medicine, so treatment only goes ahead after a consultation and a full medical history, and is only offered to adults aged 18 and over.
- A plan for your face, not a formulaYour doctor examines how your facial muscles move before deciding where to place each injection, so the result looks like a rested version of you.

What are anti-wrinkle injections?
Anti-wrinkle injections are a non-surgical treatment that softens expression lines such as frown lines, forehead lines and crow’s feet. A highly purified protein is injected with a very fine needle into the muscles that cause the lines, blocking the signals that make them contract. The muscle relaxes and the line above it softens. It is a prescription medicine, so treatment only goes ahead after a consultation and a full medical history.
Which areas can be treated?
The most common areas are frown lines between the brows, forehead lines and crow’s feet around the eyes. Anti-wrinkle injections can also gently lift the brows, and together with dermal fillers they can help define the jawline and soften droopy jowls. The same treatment can also reduce excessive underarm sweating. Your doctor will talk you through which areas suit you at your consultation.
Do anti-wrinkle injections hurt?
Discomfort is considered minimal. No anaesthetic is needed, and ice can be used to numb the area before and after your treatment. Your doctor uses a very fine needle and places several tiny injections, so the treatment is quick.
How long does treatment take, and is there any downtime?
Treatment takes around 30 minutes, and downtime is minimal, so most people carry on with their day straight away. Afterwards, stay upright for at least 4 hours, avoid exercise for 24 hours and avoid excessive heat such as saunas, sunbeds and steam rooms for 3 days.
When will I see results?
Results usually start to show within 3 to 5 days, as the muscles begin to relax. The full result shows at around 10 to 14 days, which is why we invite you back for a review two weeks after your treatment.
How long do anti-wrinkle injections last?
Results typically last around 3 to 5 months, after which movement gradually returns. Before you leave the clinic, we arrange your next appointment for around 3 to 4 months later, so your result stays consistent. Every plan is tailored to you, and individual results vary.
Will I still look like me?
That is the aim. Your doctor examines how your facial muscles move and plans the treatment around your face and the result you would like, so you look rested and refreshed rather than changed. At your two-week review you can tell us how you feel about the result, and adjustments can be made.
What happens at the two-week review?
Two weeks after your treatment, once it has taken full effect, we invite you back to the clinic to make sure you are 100% happy with your result. If you would like a little more, your practitioner provides a complimentary top-up.
Who will carry out my treatment?
Our injectables team is led by four doctors: Dr Marco La Malfa, our Lead Injector (GMC 6082116), Senior Dermatologist Dr Katerina Charakida (GMC 6030845), Aesthetic Physician Dr Asel Usupbaeva (GMC 6150757) and Dr Ivona Igerc (GDC 268228). Together they bring over 60 years of combined practice. Your doctor reviews your medical history and plans your treatment with you.
What is the difference between anti-wrinkle injections and dermal fillers?
Anti-wrinkle injections relax the muscles that cause expression lines, so they work best on lines that appear when you move. Dermal fillers restore volume and smooth lines that stay when your face is relaxed. The two are often combined, for example to soften droopy jowls and define the jawline.
Can anti-wrinkle injections help with excessive sweating?
Yes. The same treatment can be used for excessive underarm sweating, also called hyperhidrosis. It blocks the signals to the sweat glands in the treated area, significantly reducing sweating, in a quick 30 minute treatment.
Who should not have anti-wrinkle injections?
Anti-wrinkle injections are only offered to adults aged 18 and over, and are not suitable during pregnancy or breastfeeding. Some medical conditions and medications also affect whether treatment is right for you, so please tell us about any medication you take at every appointment. We take a full medical history at your consultation and only go ahead if it is safe and right for you.
Can anti-wrinkle injections be combined with other treatments?
Yes. Dermal fillers restore volume where anti-wrinkle injections cannot, and together they can soften droopy jowls and define the jawline. Polynucleotides strengthen and improve the skin itself, so combining the two can soften expression lines and improve skin quality, tone and texture over time. Profhilo is another option for skin quality. Your doctor will suggest the plan that suits you.
How much do anti-wrinkle injections cost?
Every plan is personal to the areas you’d like to treat and how your muscles move, so we talk you through your options and your investment at your complimentary consultation rather than online. There is no obligation to go ahead.
Is the consultation really complimentary?
Yes. Your consultation with a Treatment Coordinator is complimentary, with no obligation to go ahead. Medical and doctor appointments are separate and may carry a fee, which is always confirmed when you book.
