What is vaser liposuction?
Vaser Liposuction is a revolutionary, next generation fat removal treatment that can offer incredible body contouring results with less downtime, compared to other traditional liposuction procedures. Originally launched in the USA, EF MEDISPA was one of the first medical spas to offer Vaser Liposuction in the UK and many years after, we still strive to provide the best Vaser Lipo London has to offer. Vaser stands for ‘Vibration Amplification of Sound Energy Resonance’. Confused? It means that Vaser Liposuction uses ultrasonic liposuction technology to liquefy and then very precisely remove fat from targeted areas. The treatment only targets fat cells, causing significantly less damage to other tissues, resulting in less pain, bruising and recovery time. It is a suitable fat removal treatment for both men and women that want to achieve a more refined shape using a less invasive surgical procedure. It is also suitable for those who may not be overweight and already have a lean figure but require localised fat removal from a specific area.
All treatments are tailored to the individual and personal experiences and results may vary. We recommend a one to one consultation with our Treatment Coordinators to discuss your treatment options.
Which Areas Can be Treated With Vaser Liposuction?
Many men suffer from gynaecomastia, often referred to as ‘man boobs’, and are keen to achieve a reduction in chest size. Vaser Liposuction offers a breast reduction solution that is less invasive than alternative surgical methods.
What happens during the procedure?
The Vaser Liposuction procedure can last between 45mins – 3.5 hours, however that depends on the individual patient and the area to be treated. Local anaesthetic or conscious sedation is used for most Vaser Liposuction procedures performed in our London clinics. Your Cosmetic Surgeon will make a small incision into the area from where the fat is to be removed. A small probe is subsequently inserted, which safely transmits the ultrasound waves that are used to liquefy the fat. The liquefied fat is then gently removed, carefully sculpting the treated area. The result – excess fat removed precisely from your problem area helping you to achieve a sleeker, more contoured body figure or more defined facial structure.
How long is the recovery time?
Because Vaser Liposuction does not require general anaesthesia or an overnight stay, downtime is minimal. Depending on your lifestyle, health and treated areas, you should be able to return to work in approximately 2 – 5 days following the procedure. Each case is individual, but 3 – 14 days recovery time is expected. EF MEDISPA recommends that you rest for at least 12 hours following your Vaser Lipo treatment. You will need to wear a ‘compression garment’ around the treated areas following the procedure to aid the healing process and improve the results of the treatment. Your Treatment Coordinator will assess the exact amount of days you need to wear your garment depending on your results, as well as devise a bespoke aftercare plan with an array of treatments to speed up the healing process and enhance your results.

Step by Step Vaser Liposuction
1 NO OBLIGATION CONSULTATION
Your first step is a NO OBLIGATION consultation with one of EF MEDISPA’s expert Treatment Coordinators who will take your full medical history, listen to your concerns and talk to you about the procedure in detail. After that first consultation, your consultation with the Doctor will be booked.
2 MEET YOUR Practitioner
Should you decide to move forward with Vaser Lipo, you will meet one of our EF MEDISPA highly experienced Surgeons. During your 1st appointment with the Doctor you will have the time to discuss your medical history, desirable results and get answers to any medical questions that you may have about the procedure. The Doctor will be the one to determine whether you are suited to the procedure and determine the time duration according to the areas you want to treat.
3 BEFORE THE PROCEDURE
If you decide to proceed, on the day of your surgery you will meet the Surgeon again to discuss any last minute questions you may have and ask you for your final consent before the procedure. You will then be introduced to the nursing team and possibly an Anaesthetist who will be responsible for making the procedure as comfortable as possible.
4 DURING THE PROCEDURE
Vaser Lipo at EF MEDISPA is performed under local anaesthetic or conscious sedation. Firstly a small incision will be made in the area to be treated. A small probe is then inserted which transmits ultrasound waves that will liquefy the fat. The fat will then gently be sucked out and removed from your body whilst ensuring minimum damage to the surrounding tissues.
5 AFTER THE PROCEDURE
When the procedure is over, the Nurses will fit you into a support garment and the Doctor will provide you with pain killers and antibiotics. Vaser Liposuction procedures carried out at EF MEDISPA are walk-in walk-out daytime surgery, which does not require an overnight stay. Before you leave the clinic you will be booked for a review appointment with the Doctor who will be there to access your recovery and monitor your progress. We think that aftercare is significant not only to help fast recovery but also to ensure optimum results. Therefore, after the procedure, we offer a bespoke package of aftercare treatments where the patient will have the chance to have ultrasound, manual and electro lymphatic massages and other treatments designed to help the healing process. You will be able to discuss the aftercare program from your first consultation with your Treatment Coordinator, as well as the Doctor and Nurses before and after the surgery.

Vaser Liposuction FAQs
How does Vaser Lipo differ from traditional liposuction?
Traditional liposuction uses a cannula (a small tube), which is sawed in and out of small slits in the body to break down the fat so that it can be removed from the body. The downside of this method is that it can damage vital body tissue, creating a ‘bumpy’ result and making recovery time longer. Vaser Lipo is a less invasive method as it uses ultrasound technology to emulsify the fat. This innovative technique can distinguish between fat cells and healthy tissue, nerves and blood vessels. The targeted fat can therefore be removed whilst preserving healthy tissue, improving healing and decreasing recovery time. Furthermore, traditional liposuction requires general anaesthesia, however, Vaser Lipo at EF MEDISPA uses ‘twilight surgery’, which means that patients can have ‘walk in, walk out’ procedures without the need for an overnight stay.
How much fat can be removed with Vaser Liposuction?
There aren’t any set limits to how much fatty tissue can be safely removed from the body. During your complimentary consultation at EF MEDISPA you will find out what Vaser Lipo can do for you and the amount of fat that can be safely removed from your body.
Where is Vaser Liposuction performed?
It is performed at EF MEDISPA’s Kensington clinic which has a specially designed surgery licensed by the Care Quality Commission. However, you can have a consultation at any of our London clinics and discuss the treatment in more detail. EF MEDISPA is open 7 days a week, which means there is always someone on hand to answer your queries.
Who will perform the procedure?
EF MEDISPA has a dedicated medical team of highly experienced Surgeons and Nurses performing all of our surgical treatments. They will be next to you every step of the way ensuring you are feeling comfortable before, during and after the procedure. Our highly skilled team of Nurses and Practitioners will also ensure you are getting an excellent, bespoke aftercare treatment plan aimed to improve the healing process and accelerate recovery.
Can I gain weight after having Vaser? If so does the fat migrate to other areas?
After having Vaser, should you experience weight gain or loss, it will tend to be proportionately distributed over your entire body. Fat removal with Vaser Liposuction is permanent if you follow a healthy lifestyle. Following a balanced diet and regular exercise will help to ensure the fat does not return or migrate to different areas.
After Vaser Lipo surgery, how long do I have to wear a compression garment?
Following Vaser liposuction, patients have to wear compression garments on the area of the body that has been treated. The standard length of time for wearing the compression garments is usually four weeks. Compression garments are required after the liposuction treatment to aid the healing process and maximise the results of the treatment. The compression garments can help to hold the skin against the muscles to ensure it re-adheres properly, while it also helps prevent fluid from forming between the skin and the muscles. Finally, they can help to reduce any swelling that may occur after the procedure.
What is the difference between Smart Lipo or else known as Laser Lipo and Vaser Lipo?
Smart Lipo and Vaser Lipo are different types of liposuction. Both Smart Liposuction and Vaser Liposuction are used to help remove unwanted fat from the body, provide more defined contours and a better shape, however, they use different techniques. Smart Liposuction (also known as Laser Lipolysis) uses laser technology to target the unwanted fat in the body, while Vaser Liposuction uses ultrasound technology to target the fat. Although Smart Liposuction is a step up further from traditional liposuction, Vaser Liposuction is the most advanced and effective form of liposuction we offer. The ultrasonic technology allows very specific areas of fat to be treated (known as Vaser liposelection) – even in very small areas – which means that the surrounding body tissues are left untouched. This results in far less bruising and swelling, which also means that recovery time from Vaser Lipo is shorter.
How safe is Vaser Liposuction?
EF MEDISPA only ever undertakes treatments that are completely safe and proven, so patients can rest assured that Vaser Lipo at EF MEDISPA adheres to all safety precautions. So how safe is Vaser lipo? Well compared to traditional liposuction techniques, Vaser actually makes liposuction safer and less invasive than ever. Traditional liposuction’s removal of fat from the body uses an aggressive technique which can cause damage to nearby body tissues. Meanwhile, Vaser Lipo is far safer thanks to its LipoSelection technique, which is highly targeted for even small areas and utilises ultrasound technology to emulsify the fat. This also means that recovery time is much quicker as less damage is caused to the body. If you are wondering ‘Is Vaser Lipo safe with its sedation procedure?’ then you can feel confident in the knowledge that EF MEDISPA specialises in local anaesthetic and conscious sedation; a safer alternative to general anaesthetic. Not only does it eliminate the risks that come with general anaesthetic but because an overnight hospital stay is not required with Conscious Sedation, meaning the recovery time is far quicker. If you have any more questions about how safe is Vaser, the EF MEDISPA team are available seven days a week to discuss any questions or concerns you may have.
I am a size 8/10 and am considering Vaser Lipo – is it worth it?
If you are a size 8/10 then you may not need to lose any extra weight, but if you do have pockets of fat on an otherwise lean body, then liposuction may be an option. In the first instance, the best thing to do is discuss your personal suitability to liposuction with a professional. EF MEDISPA offers a complimentary consultation with a highly trained Vaser specialist team to help you decide if liposuction is for you.
How soon can I see results from my Vaser Lipo procedure?
Vaser results vary depending upon the individual being treated, with factors including the amount of fat to be removed, how many different areas are treated and so forth. Many patients report that they begin to see results from their Vaser Lipo immediately after treatment, while for others it may take from three months, but up to six months to achieve the final result. As a general guide, Vaser results start to appear instantly after your Vaser lipo procedure, and then continue to improve over the following weeks as the body’s tissues start to heal. Maximum Vaser Lipo results can typically be expected within around three to four months. An initial Vaser consultation at EF MEDISPA will help you to get a better understanding of the Vaser Lipo results you can expect to achieve.
