Lip Neutralisation

What is Lip Neutralisation?

Lip neutralisation is a specialised permanent makeup treatment designed to balance and even out the natural tones of the lips. This treatment is perfect for those with naturally cool, dark, or uneven lip tones. Unlike traditional lip blush, which adds pigment for a more defined lip colour, neutralisation works by correcting underlying tones first to create a more balanced base before any colour is added.

Who is it for?

Lip neutralisation is ideal for clients with:

  • Naturally dark or cool-toned lips
  • Uneven pigmentation or areas of discolouration
  • Lips that appear dull or lack warmth
  • A desire for a soft, natural-looking enhancement without needing to wear lipstick daily

If your lips have a strong blue, purple, or brown undertone, neutralisation helps to lift and soften these tones, resulting in a more even, fresh, and natural-looking colour.

How does Lip Neutralisation work?

The process typically involves:

  1. Consultation – We assess your natural lip tone, discuss your goals, and determine the best approach for your individual needs.
  2. Colour Correction – A carefully selected pigment is used to neutralise and balance out darker or cool-toned areas. This is a gradual process and will require more than one session for optimal results.
  3. Healing & Adjustment – Over the following weeks, your lips will heal, and the colour will gradually adjust and settle. We usually wait 8 to 12 weeks before a follow-up session.
  4. Follow-Up Sessions – Once healed, we evaluate the results and add additional layers of pigment to further enhance the colour.

The Results

The final healed result is soft, natural enhanced and more even lip colour to complement your skin tone. Lip neutralisation does not make the lips look overly pigmented or unnatural.

How Many Sessions Will I Need?

It is likely that you will need multiple sessions to build up the correct tone gradually and safely. The number of sessions depends on the natural depth of colour in the lips and how they heal. We can get a better assessment of this after the first healed session.

Step by Step Permanent Makeup Treatment

  1. Consultation

Prior to treatment, a consultation will be carried out with Ella to go through your medical history and provide information about pre and post-treatment care. A template will then be drawn on the area of permanent makeup to get an idea of the desired shape.

  2. Treatment

Treatment can be carried out on the same day as your consultation, and you will have the option to apply topical anaesthetic 15 minutes before treatment. Ella will discuss colours, shape, and your predicted outcome, followed by explaining the paperwork and giving you an aftercare pack. Once this is completed and you are happy with the shape, treatment will begin.

  3. After Treatment

Following your procedure, Ella will recommend the appropriate homecare for you, which must be strictly followed to ensure the best results possible. The aftercare pack includes a sachet of cream and thorough post-care instructions.

FAQs

Who is unsuitable for permanent makeup treatment?

Those with the following are not suitable for treatment:

  • Pregnancy
  • Breastfeeding - anything over 3 months is fine.
  • Cancer

How long is the healing process?

Healing can take up to 2 weeks depending on the treatment area and each individual's natural healing process. It is crucial that you follow the aftercare steps in order to attain a good pigment finish, aid recovery smoothly, and avoid any infection.

Do you only need 1 session?

Treatment requires 2 sessions with a 6-week gap in between. The second session will help refine any patchiness or unevenness. Final results will be seen 6 weeks after the second appointment, and an annual top up is recommended.
