Step by Step Breast Reduction

We want you to feel happy and comfortable with your choice of procedure, so before we book you in for any type of treatment at EF MEDISPA, we recommend attending a no-obligation consultation. This is an opportunity for you to ask one of our expert Treatment Coordinators questions about Breast Reduction surgery and to detail your medical history as well as what you would like to achieve from the treatment. BEFORE YOUR PROCEDURE

We prioritise good communication to help you feel as comfortable as possible with your medical team. You will always meet your Surgeon in advance of your Breast Reduction surgery to talk about any questions or concerns you may have also. At this appointment, you will be able to discuss the procedure in more detail and ask questions about how you will look and feel during and after the boob reduction surgery. After this, your Treatment Coordinator will schedule any tests required such as blood tests, an ultrasound or mammogram and discuss your aftercare plan with you so that you know what to expect after your Breast Reduction surgery.
DURING YOUR PROCEDURE

ou will have the opportunity to meet with your Surgeon again on the day of your breast reduction surgery, so they can run through any issues that you may wish to discuss, and then ask you for your final consent before proceeding. You will also meet your anaesthetist, who will administer general anaesthetic to ensure your comfort and safety throughout the procedure. Breast reduction surgery will usually last between two and three hours, with your Surgeon making several careful incisions around the areola and in the crease of your breasts in order to remove unwanted tissue. After this, the breast can then be reshaped and uplifted. Once the breast reduction surgery is completed, you will then be moved to a private recovery suite, where you will be able to relax until you are ready to depart.
AFTER YOUR PROCEDURE

Once you’ve moved to the recovery suite, you will be able to relax with healthy snacks and herbal infusions. Your Nurse will also guide you through your Breast Reduction surgery aftercare as well as fitting your support bra and talking you through the painkillers and antibiotics you will need to take. Your medical team will monitor you closely until you are ready to continue your recovery at home.

We recommend avoiding strenuous exercise of any kind for around one month, but you should be able to return to work and resume social activities soon after surgery.

Bruising and swelling usually subside after around a month, with most people able to return to work within the same timeframe. More demanding physical activities such as heavy lifting will need to be built up to more slowly.
