What is Breast Reduction Surgery?
With breast reduction surgery, we can help to reduce the size of large breasts as well as enhance asymmetries in the shape of the breasts. It can be common for women who have large breasts to suffer from back, neck or shoulder pains, as well as have related posture issues. If you want to reduce your breast size, Breast Reduction London surgery at EF MEDISPA could be the solution for you.
If you decide to have your Breast Reduction procedure with us, after an initial consultation, we will provide you with a full, personalised treatment plan that will include meeting with your Surgeon before treatment and aftercare provision from our expert medical team. Here at EF MEDISPA, Breast Reduction London surgery will be carried out at our medical partner’s private facilities, with the surgery itself typically taking only a few hours, meaning you could be treated on the same day. However, we can also provide the option of an overnight stay if required.
All treatments are tailored to the individual and personal experiences and results may vary. We recommend a one to one consultation with our Treatment Coordinators to discuss your treatment options.

Step by Step Breast Reduction
1 No Obligation Consultation
We want you to feel happy and comfortable with your choice of procedure, so before we book you in for any type of treatment at EF MEDISPA, we recommend attending a no-obligation consultation.
This is an opportunity for you to ask one of our expert Treatment Coordinators questions about Breast Reduction surgery and to detail your medical history as well as what you would like to achieve from the treatment.
You will learn about Breast Reduction surgery in more detail and discuss the procedure itself as well as the associated aftercare plan designed for you. If at this point you decide to proceed with the treatment, we will then book you into consultation with one of our highly experienced Surgeons.
2 Before Your Procedure
We prioritise good communication to help you feel as comfortable as possible with your medical team. You will always meet your Surgeon in advance of your Breast Reduction surgery to talk about any questions or concerns you may have also.
At this appointment, you will be able to discuss the procedure in more detail and ask questions about how you will look and feel during and after the boob reduction surgery. This is where we will also confirm the cost of your breast reduction surgery.
After this, your Treatment Coordinator will schedule any tests required such as blood tests, an ultrasound or mammogram and discuss your aftercare plan with you so that you know what to expect after your Breast Reduction surgery.
3 During your Procedure
You will have the opportunity to meet with your Surgeon again on the day of your breast reduction surgery, so they can run through any issues that you may wish to discuss, and then ask you for your final consent before proceeding. You will also meet your anaesthetist, who will administer general anaesthetic to ensure your comfort and safety throughout the procedure.
Breast reduction surgery will usually last between two and three hours, with your Surgeon making several careful incisions around the areola and in the crease of your breasts in order to remove unwanted tissue. After this, the breast can then be reshaped and uplifted. Once the breast reduction surgery is completed, you will then be moved to a private recovery suite, where you will be able to relax until you are ready to depart.
4 After Your Procedure
Once you’ve moved to the recovery suite, you will be able to relax with healthy snacks and herbal infusions. Your Nurse will also guide you through your Breast Reduction surgery aftercare as well as fitting your support bra and talking you through the painkillers and antibiotics you will need to take. Your medical team will monitor you closely until you are ready to continue your recovery at home.
Breast Reduction FAQs
How long does a breast reduction surgery take?
Every procedure differs slightly as the amount of breast tissue to be removed varies from person to person. In most cases, Breast Reduction surgery will last between two to three hours.
Will my breast reduction surgery leave a scar?
You will have a scar following the procedure, however, our highly skilled Surgeons will use specialised techniques that will minimise your Breast Reduction scars. This can be discussed further during your consultation.
Will an Aftercare Plan be Provided?
After your breast reduction surgery, you will need to wear a surgical support bra for 24 hours a day, for four to six weeks. You will also need to attend scheduled review appointments with your Surgeon, allowing your progress to be monitored closely.
Will I Need any Downtime after Breast Reduction Surgery?
We recommend avoiding strenuous exercise of any kind for around one month, but you should be able to return to work and resume social activities soon after surgery.
Bruising and swelling usually subside after around a month, with most people able to return to work within the same timeframe. More demanding physical activities such as heavy lifting will need to be built up to more slowly.
