Cosmetic Eyelid Surgery - Blepharoplasty
Eyelid Surgery or Blepharoplasty is a surgical facial rejuvenating procedure for men and women to help restore youthfulness to the eye area, addressing drooping eyelids and puffy eyes.
Drooping eyelids, puffy bags under the eyes and loose skin can occur for a variety of reasons, including too much sun exposure, an unhealthy lifestyle, high cholesterol, stress or ageing. Blepharoplasty can be an ideal solution to reduce these issues. The treatment is performed inside the eyelash line, tightening the skin and removing fatty cells that produce the puffy look.
This cosmetic procedure has evolved dramatically over the last few years, and our renowned surgeons can now help fix the problems around your eyes in our London clinics with minimal and undetectable scarring. It’s also performed under local anaesthetic, so there’s no need for an overnight hospital stay.

Step by Step Eyelid Surgery
1 NO OBLIGATION CONSULTATION
Your first step is a NO OBLIGATION consultation with one of EF MEDISPA’s expert treatment coordinators who will take your full medical history, listen to your concerns and talk to you about the procedure in detail. After that first consultation, if you would like to move forward, a consultation with the surgeon will be booked.
2 MEET YOUR PRACTITIONER
Should you decide to move forward with Blepharoplasty, you will meet one of our EF MEDISPA doctors/surgeons. During your initial appointment with the doctor you will have the time to discuss your medical history, desirable results and get answers to any medical questions that you may have about the procedure.
The doctor will examine you to determine whether you are suited to the Blepharoplasty procedure and explain to you exactly what the procedure entails.
3 BEFORE THE PROCEDURE
If you decide to proceed, on the day of your surgery you will meet the surgeon again to discuss any last minute questions you may have and ask you for your final consent before the procedure. You will then be introduced to the nursing team and possibly an anaesthetist who will be responsible for making the procedure as comfortable as possible.
4 DURING THE PROCEDURE
Blepharoplasty at EF MEDISPA is performed under local anaesthetic or sedation. Small incisions are made either on the crease of the upper eyelid or inside the lower lash line, to avoid visible scarring. Unwanted skin or fat is then removed to help reduce puffiness or sagging skin on the eyelid or eye bag.
5 AFTER THE PROCEDURE
Whilst relaxing in the recovery suite you will have the opportunity to discuss the aftercare arrangements again with your nurse. You will also be offered a selection of snacks and herbal infusions. Your medical team will monitor you whilst in the recovery suite until you are ready for your journey home.
Before leaving the clinic, your team will arrange a date for your review appointment with the surgeon, who can provide you with the reassurance that your recovery is proceeding normally
Eyelid Surgery FAQs
What is blepharoplasty?
Blepharoplasty is a cosmetic procedure at EF MEDISPA that removes excess skin around the eyes including drooping upper eyelids and excess folds of skin also known as eye bags or pouches under the eyes.
How does it work?
At EF MEDISPSA our highly skilled surgeons use the transconjunctival procedure to remove drooping upper lids, fatty deposits and eye bags all taking place under local anaesthetic with no need for an overnight hospital stay. This procedure is carried by making tiny incisions along the lash line to remove excess skin and fatty deposits.
Is there scarring?
For the lower lids transconjunctival blepharoplasty is performed via an internal scar in the conjunctiva and therefore is not visible. For the upper lids the incision is carefully made along the natural crease of your eye making the scarring virtually undetectable.
How long does the procedure take?
Blepharoplasty is a quick procedure taking approximately 40 minutes
What is the recovery time for Blepharoplasty?
Recover times vary but the average is between 7-10 days recovery time.
What if blepharoplasty is not right for me?
At EF MEDISPA there are as many non-invasive as there are surgical solutions available to you. During your initial consultation with our patient co-ordinator you will discuss all the different options that are available to you.
