What is Blepharoplasty?
Blepharoplasty, also known as eyelid surgery or eye bag surgery, works to dramatically improve the appearance of ageing, droopy eyelids and puffy under eye bags. Loose skin on the eyelids or the undereye area can occur for a variety of reasons, including too much sun exposure, an unhealthy lifestyle, high cholesterol, stress or ageing.
Blepharoplasty is a cutting-edge procedure, performed inside the eyelash line and aims to tighten the skin and remove fatty cells that produce the puffy look. Blepharoplasty is carried out in one of our partner’s medical facilities, ensuring a private, safe and sterile environment for our patients.
All treatments are tailored to the individual and personal experiences and results may vary. We recommend a one to one consultation with our Treatment Coordinators to discuss your treatment options.
What are the benefits of Blepharoplasty?
Blepharoplasty is a cosmetic procedure that delivers incredible results with minimal downtime, inconvenience or scarring. Eye bag removal or eyelid surgery at EF MEDISPA takes between 45 and 120 minutes and is performed under conscious sedation or general anaesthesia depending on the area treated. Patients can usually return to their normal day-to-day activities 2 – 7 days after the procedure, enjoying the long-lasting rejuvenating results of the Blepharoplasty procedure.
What happens during Blepharoplasty Treatment?
Before your Blepharoplasty procedure you will meet with one of our highly experienced and friendly Treatment Coordinators to talk about the eye lift treatment in detail. Your next appointment with the Doctor will be booked where you will go through your medical history and discuss what you are hoping to achieve from your treatment.
Depending on the type of procedure, your Surgeon will decide on the type of anaesthesia performed prior to ensure you are feeling comfortable throughout the procedure. Your Surgeon will make small incisions, either on the crease of the upper eyelid or inside the lower lash line, to avoid visible scarring. Unwanted skin and fat cells are then removed from the relevant areas helping to significantly reduce puffiness and sagging skin on the eyelid and/or under eye bag area. Blepharoplasty can also help to tighten the remaining skin around the eye area, creating an even more defined appearance. At EF MEDISPA we offer same day blepharoplasty procedures which will be carried out at our partner’s private facilities allowing you to return home after your procedure. However, if needed, we can also arrange your overnight stay.
How long is the treatment recovery time?
Depending on the amount of excess fat and skin removed, your post-treatment recovery time will vary between 2 to 7 days. Your own personal recovery plan will be discussed with your Treatment Coordinator and Surgeon to ensure you follow the correct aftercare procedures to maximise results. Any follow-up or review appointments will also be scheduled to monitor your healing progress.

Step by Step Blepharoplasty
1 NO OBLIGATION CONSULTATION
Your first step is a NO OBLIGATION consultation with one of EF MEDISPA’s expert Treatment Coordinators who will take your full medical history, listen to your concerns and talk to you about the procedure in detail. After that first consultation, if you would like to move forward, a consultation with the Surgeon will be booked.
2 MEET YOUR Practitioner
Should you decide to move forward with Blepharoplasty, your next appointment with the Surgeon will be booked. During your initial appointment with the Surgeon you will have the time to discuss your medical history, desirable results and get answers to any medical questions that you may have about the procedure.
The Doctor will examine you to determine whether you are suited to the Blepharoplasty procedure and explain to you exactly what the procedure entails.
3 BEFORE THE PROCEDURE
If you decide to proceed, on the day of your surgery you will meet the Surgeon again to discuss any last-minute questions you may have and ask you for your final consent before the procedure. You will then be introduced to the nursing team and possibly an anaesthetist who will be responsible for making the procedure as comfortable as possible.
4 DURING THE PROCEDURE
Blepharoplasty at EF MEDISPA is performed under conscious sedation or general anaesthesia. Small incisions are made either on the crease of the upper eyelid or inside the lower lash line, to avoid visible scarring. Unwanted skin or fat is then removed to help reduce puffiness or sagging skin on the eyelid or eye bag.
5 AFTER THE PROCEDURE
Whilst relaxing in the recovery suite you will have the opportunity to discuss the aftercare arrangements again with your Nurse. You will also be offered a selection of snacks and herbal infusions. Your medical team will monitor you whilst in the recovery suite until you are ready for your journey home.
Before leaving the facilities, your team will arrange a date for your review appointment with the Surgeon, who can provide you with the reassurance that your recovery is proceeding normally.
What is blepharoplasty?
Blepharoplasty is a cosmetic procedure at EF MEDISPA that removes excess skin around the eyes including drooping upper eyelids and excess folds of skin also known as eye bags or pouches under the eyes.
How does it work?
At EF MEDISPA our highly skilled Surgeons use the most cutting-edge procedure to remove drooping upper lids, fatty deposits and eye bags all taking place under conscious sedation or general anaesthesia. This procedure is carried by making tiny incisions along the lash line to remove excess skin and fatty deposits.
Is there scarring?
For the lower lids transconjunctival blepharoplasty is performed via an internal scar in the conjunctiva and therefore is not visible. For the upper lids the incision is carefully made along the natural crease of your eye making the scarring virtually undetectable.
How long does the procedure take?
Blepharoplasty is a relatively quick procedure taking approximately 45 – 120 minutes
What is the recovery time for Blepharoplasty?
Recover times can vary, however, the average is usually between 7-14 days.
What if blepharoplasty is not right for me?
At EF MEDISPA there are as many non-invasive as there are surgical solutions available to you. During your initial consultation with our Treatment Coordinator you will discuss all the different options that are available to you.
