Platelet Rich Plasma Therapy, also known as PRP Therapy, cleverly uses your own blood to encourage the production of new collagen. This innovative rejuvenating treatment goes a step further from all the rest anti-ageing solutions to help smooth out the common signs of ageing on your face and hands. Our blood contains platelets, which work to heal damaged tissues including our skin and hair follicles. During a PRP Therapy, a small amount of blood is extracted from your arm and placed in a specially designed centrifuge. The blood is spun at such a rate that the red blood cells separate from the platelets and plasma. The ‘platelet rich’ plasma is then injected back into the patient, helping to rejuvenate the trouble areas. The ongoing production of collagen continues to brighten, rejuvenate and rehydrate the skin even after the treatment. PRP can also be an exceptional solution to address hair loss, as it is designed to promote growth and can help to give you healthier, thicker hair. Platelet Rich Plasma treatments at EF MEDISPA are only ever carried out by qualified Doctors or Nurses. Our highly experienced Medical Practitioners will be at hand before, during and after the treatment.

What is platelet rich plasma (PRP) therapy?
Which concerns does PRP therapy address?
Platelet Rich Plasma Therapy is an effective rejuvenating treatment targeting fine lines, wrinkles and loose skin on the face and hands.PRP Therapy can also help to improve the overall health and appearance of the skin, brighten and rejuvenate dull and dehydrated skin, weeks even after the treatment has finished. In addition to being a revitalising treatment for the skin, Platelet Rich Plasma treatments also have many benefits for the scalp, tackling hair loss in both men and women by supplying the hair follicle with vital nutrients.
PRP Therapy encourages healthy hair growth, resulting in much thicker and healthier hair. Please note that as with any procedure, the concerns that can be treated with Platelet Rich Plasma Therapy are unique to each patient and something that should always be discussed with your Treatment Coordinator.
Which areas can be treated with Platelet Rich Plasma therapy?
Platelet Rich Plasma Therapy for the face
Whether you want to address crow’s feet, frown lines or loose skin, PRP Therapy performed in our clinics can be an effective treatment to restore your skin’s youthful appearance. By encouraging the natural collagen production, this innovative facial rejuvenation treatment can help to provide numerous anti-ageing benefits, helping your skin to look smoother and more plumped.
Platelet Rich Plasma Therapy for the hands
Hands are probably one of the most exposed areas of our body. Thus, they are incredibly prone to the signs of ageing, with skin becoming loose and wrinkled over time. Platelet Rich Plasma treatments can help to improve the appearance of ageing hands, by smoothing, firming and rejuvenating the skin.
Platelet Rich Plasma Therapy for the scalp
PRP Therapy can be used to treat one of the most frustrating and common concerns for both men and women, hair loss. The treatment involves harvesting the natural growth factors in the blood and redistributing them to feed the hair follicle. This great, minimally invasive procedure promotes healthy hair growth, to help give you fuller and thicker hair.
All treatments are tailored to the individual and personal experiences and results may vary. We recommend a one to one consultation with our Treatment Coordinators to discuss your treatment options.
Is PRP safe?
Safety and comfort is our main priority at EF MEDISPA, therefore we only employ experienced Doctors and Nurses to perform our Platelet Rich Plasma treatments. Our clinics provide a safe and sterile environment and our expertly trained medical team is carefully selected to ensure you receive the best care and results. Our medical staff are available to offer advice and support at every stage of your treatment, putting your individual needs first.
What happens during the treatment?
Platelet Rich Plasma Therapy usually takes approximately 30 – 90 minutes and it does not require any form of anaesthesia, but a topical anaesthetic cream can be applied if preferred. During the treatment, blood is taken from your arm before being spun in a centrifuge to separate the red blood cells from platelets and plasma.
The ‘platelet rich’ plasma is subsequently injected into the parts of the face, hands or scalp to be treated. Your Treatment Coordinator will be available before, during and after your treatment should you have any questions.
How long is the recovery time?
Since PRP Therapy is a non-surgical treatment the downtime is minimal. After the treatment you should expect slight bruising, redness and swelling of the treated area, which will eventually subside. You will be advised not to touch the treated area as well as to avoid prolonged sunlight, rigorous exercise, saunas, hot baths and excessive amounts of alcohol, as this may increase swelling. A course of 1 – 3 platelet rich plasma treatments is usually recommended and results are expected to last approximately 1 – 2 years*. Each patient and treatment is unique so your Treatment Coordinator will discuss any individual post-treatment or recovery requirements with you if required.

PRP Therapy FAQs
How does it work?
PRP Therapy at EF MEDISPA utilises one of the most advanced technology to split the elements of the blood, separating the potent human growth factors from the plasma and platelets. First, a small amount of blood is taken by a member of EF MEDISPA’ s highly trained medical team. Then your blood is prepared in a state of the art concentration system by spinning it at incredibly high speeds and separating the blood into three factors – human growth factors, plasma and platelets. Your human growth factors are then injected back into your face helping to boost collagen production and rejuvenate your skin.
Is it safe?
PRP is a more natural skin rejuvenating approach. Harnessing the anti-ageing benefits of the derived plasma from your own blood there is no risk of allergic or foreign-body immunologic reaction. At EF MEDISPA we only employ highly experienced Doctors or Nurses to perform our Platelet Rich Plasma treatments, therefore you can rest assured that they will put your safety first and do their best to provide the best quality of services striving to deliver optimum results.
