How to treat common summer skin complaints

Summer skinThe weather can cause different skin complaints, and during summer the dry heat can lead to a variety of skin issues. In this blog, we discuss the different complaints you can suffer from during summer and the treatments and products we offer that can help to combat them.

Back Acne

During the summer heat, we sweat a lot more. Unfortunately, sweat mixed with the bacteria and oils on our skin can cause our pores to become clogged. Many people find that they suffer with acne more during the warm summer months, especially on areas of the body such as the back. Back acne can be an upsetting skin complaint, often causing us to want to cover up our backs during the summer months, and restricting the clothing we wear. However, there are lots of great treatments you can have for back acne. One of our most popular is the Acnelan Peel, this great treatment involves 3 steps that help to cleanse away any impurities, balance and soothe the skin. Including an in-clinic and home-care system this treatment will help to clear your skin, leaving you with a blemish-free, smooth back.

Dry/Irritated SkinJet facial

Although many people associate dry skin the colder months of the year, things like air-conditioning can really dry out your skin in the warmer months. If you’re suffering from dry and irritated skin then we recommend cooling down and hydrating your skin at the same time with our fabulous Jet Facial. Using a jet of pressured air and saline solution it works to cleanse the skin, whilst having a comfortable and cooling sensation. After the exfoliation, vitamins and hyaluronic acid are applied to the skin to rejuvenate and hydrate, leaving you with soft clear skin.

Pigmentation/ Uneven Skin Tone

SPF 50 During summer time, it is imperative you wear SPF to protect your skin from sun damage. However, for many people who maybe didn’t wear SPF as often as they should have in their younger years will find they have pigmentation. Pigmentation can flare up and become more visible in the hotter months of the year, so to keep your pigmentation at bay these are some of our favourite high protection SPFs.

SkinCeuticals Sheer Mineral UV Defence SPF50, a mineral, lightweight formula that is suitable for all skin types. DermaQuest SunArmor SPF50, an antioxidant SPF that helps to promote collagen production. And lastly, CosMedix Peptide Rich Defense SPF50 which contains amino acids and rich peptides to help reduce and prevent signs of ageing.

However, if you are suffering from pigmentation, find out more about the different treatments we offer to help clear hyperpigmentation and reveal a more even skin tone here.
