Welcome to the first in our new series of skin blogs, where we’ll be giving you our top tips for improving your skin. We’re starting the series off with our top tips for blemish free skin. So if you’ve been suffering with breakouts and blemishes then make sure you take these steps to get your skin back on track!
If you’ve been having recent breakouts then we have a host of different facial treatments that will help clear your skin. A bespoke facial is a great treatment to start with as it can be tailored completely to you and your skins needs. They will work to exfoliate your skin and unclog your pores, leaving you with balanced healthy skin. Another great treatment, which you can have alongside your facial is the LED Luminous Lift. The LED light can help with a variety of different skin concerns, including breakouts. The blue light has anti-bacterial properties that will help clear congested skin and acne. Available in London and Birmingham.
In order to have healthy skin you must be following a skincare routine. Treatments work wonders and correct all different skin concerns, but in order to maintain the results it’s essential to have a good home care system in place. Ensuring you cleanse your skin morning and evening is a sure way to keep it blemish free. It is imperative to wash your face every morning to remove the dirt, sweat and dead skin cells your skin has shed whilst you’re asleep. It is equally as important to wash your face at the end of the day to remove the make-up, and dirt that your skin will have picked up. One of our favourite cleansers is the Cosmedix Purity Clean. It’s great for breakouts as it’ll unclog pores and cleanses the skin of any impurities.
Once you’ve cleansed, we also recommend you use an exfoliating toner. We love Biologique Recherche P50; it works by exfoliating the skin and regulating the PH levels. Afterwards, apply your serum, the SkinCeuticals Blemish + Age Defense will target your imperfections and minimise blemishes. It is also great for reducing the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles. Lastly, finish your routine off with a moisturiser and SPF, our preferred choice is Dermaquest SheerZinc SPF.
What we put inside our bodies can have a massive effect on our skin. If your diet includes high GI foods, such as white bread, along with greasy and sugary foods then your skin will no doubt be feeling the effects, as well as showing them through breakouts. It will come as no surprise that by ensuring your diet is filled with healthy foods, high in nutrients your skin will become clearer. We have recently partnered with Pure Package, the gourmet healthy food delivery service, who have an entire diet specifically for healthy skin which is filled with antioxidants. To find out more information on their services then read our recent blog post all about them here.
Ensure you are well rested
Being sleep deprived can really take its toll on your overall health, including your skin. Not getting enough sleep can affect the moisture levels in your skin, causing your PH levels to drop. As a result, your skin will become dry and uneven which can trigger breakouts. One of the best ways to ensure you get a good night’s sleep is by introducing a sleep routine. By going to bed and waking up at the same time each day you will gradually find it easier to sleep. After a couple of weeks of regular sleeping, you will start to notice positive effects in your skin.
