Day Surgery at EF MEDISPA
Over 95% of surgical procedures performed by EF MEDISPA's surgical team are walk in and walk out procedures that do not require an overnight stay. These procedures only require a simple local anaesthetic, and there is also the option of conscious sedation with the local anaesthetic (also known as twilight surgery), when a fully qualified anaesthetist will be present throughout the procedure.
Occasionally, the Surgeon may suggest a general anaesthetic, which would usually involve an overnight stay. EF MEDISPA Surgeons have admitting rights at Harley Street and other central London hospitals if you elect to have a procedure which requires a general anaesthetic.
EF MEDISPA Surgeons are internationally renowned, regularly attend conferences and workshops either giving papers or consulting with colleagues to keep up to date with new techniques and procedures. We retain the services of specialists in their field, so that you can be confident that your Surgeon will be an expert in the exact procedure that you have chosen.
Your First Step
Your first step is to attend a free no obligation consultation at one of the EF MEDISPA clinics. You will meet with one of our friendly Patient Co-Ordinators, who will put you completely at ease and answer all your questions. After taking a brief medical history, and discussing your goals and objectives, they will be able to describe your available options. This may include non-invasive treatments as well as surgical options, as we believe that you should make sure that you have reviewed the alternatives before electing for surgery.
Our Co-Ordinators are trained to explain everything to you in simple laymen’s terms so you will know exactly what is involved with each solution proposed. They can also allay any concerns you may have, to put you at ease over the many misconceptions people often have about cosmetic surgery.
As EF MEDISPA has a high proportion of male clients, our Co-Ordinators are able to understand the issues that men may have in terms of facing surgery.
After your first consultation
If you decide that surgery is the right option, you will have the opportunity to meet your Surgeon. The purpose of this consultation is for the Surgeon to review your medical history to ensure that there are no contra-indications that would prevent the surgery from proceeding. The Surgeon will also be able to answer any further medical questions that you may have, after your initial consultation with our Patient Co-Ordinator. They will also make sure that your expectations can be met by the results that they would predict from the procedure.
When you book your aftercare appointments, your Co-Ordinator will also arrange your follow up consultations with the Surgeon, which will usually comprise one follow up a few days after surgery to ensure all is well, and a further consultation a few months later to monitor the results.
EF MEDISPA has a reputation for the most comprehensive aftercare programme for all its surgical procedures. Depending on the procedure, your aftercare may involve manual lymphatic massage, electrolymphatics or ultrasound, all designed to speed up the healing process and enhance your results.
