What is a Platelet Rich Plasma Therapy?
Platelet Rich Plasma Therapy, also known as PRP Therapy, is a non-invasive treatment that uses the natural power of the platelets found within our own blood to help the body to heal, repair and restore itself. It can be used to treat and improve many conditions including hair thinning and hair loss – with great results! It can also be incredibly effective as a facial rejuvenation treatment, ideal to tackle the many visible signs of ageing.
PRP Therapy begins by extracting blood from the patient. The blood is then placed in a centrifuge and spun at a fast pace. This forces the platelets and plasma to be separated from the red blood cells. Platelet rich plasma is then injected back into the patient to nourish and repair their chosen area.
By using the natural growth factors found in the blood, Platelet Rich Plasma Therapy helps the body to produce collagen, repair damaged cells, prompt hair growth within the follicles and tackle the many visible signs of ageing skin.
All treatments are tailored to the individual and personal experiences and results may vary. We recommend a one to one consultation with our Treatment Coordinators to discuss your treatment options.
Why consider Platelet Rich Plasma Therapy?
Platelet Rich Plasma Therapy is a popular and effective treatment for both men and women. Hair loss and baldness are more common in men and male patients often opt for this treatment to tackle androgenetic alopecia (thinning hair and hair loss), allowing the Platelet Rich Plasma to encourage and boost hair growth in the follicles.
It is also a treatment that can rejuvenate and hydrate the skin on the face and body, helping to improve the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles, thanks to its ability to increase collagen production and repair damaged skin cells. This regenerative treatment can be effective when used to tackle the signs of ageing on the face and hands, tightening loose skin as well as brightening and rejuvenating the overall complexion. Skin will feel nourished and appear revitalised!
PRP Therapy is so effective is it also used for medical purposes to help repair wounds and injuries.
What are the benefits of having Platelet Rich Plasma Therapy?
PRP Therapy is a quick and effective treatment, lasting only 30 – 90 minutes depending on the treatment area. Treatment is carried out using a local anaesthetic cream if required.
It results in very little or no post-treatment downtime and the benefits can last for 1 – 2 years. At EF MEDISPA we recommend a course of up to 3 treatments to achieve optimum results. Results may take 1 – 3 months to be appear in full.
What happens during the treatment?
Once we have obtained a full medical history we will ascertain if you are able to receive PRP Therapy at EF MEDISPA. If our Doctor approves and you wish to continue with treatment, one of our highly trained and experienced medical team will take a small amount of blood from you. The blood is then transferred and spun at an accelerated speed in our state of the art centrifuge, in order to separate the blood. Once separated the growth factors are extracted from the plasma and the platelets. These separated natural growth factors are then transferred to the required treatment area/s to help to repair, revive and rejuvenate. Treatment takes between 30 – 90 minutes. A local anaesthetic cream can be applied to the treated area/s if required.
How long is the recovery time?
PRP Therapy requires very little or no post-treatment recovery time. It is one of the benefits that make this treatment so appealing to our male and female patients. You will be given post-treatment advice by our expert Treatment Coordinators, but you should be able to return to your day to day activities straight away.

PRP Therapy FAQs
How does it work?
PRP Therapy at EF MEDISPA utilises one of the most advanced technology to split the elements of the blood, separating the potent human growth factors from the plasma and platelets.
First, a small amount of blood is taken by a member of EF MEDISPA’ s highly trained medical team. Then your blood is prepared in a state of the art concentration system by spinning it at incredibly high speeds and separating the blood into three factors – human growth factors, plasma and platelets. Your human growth factors are then injected back into your face helping to boost collagen production and rejuvenate your skin.
Is it safe?
PRP is a more natural skin rejuvenating approach. Harnessing the anti-ageing benefits of the derived plasma from your own blood there is no risk of allergic or foreign-body immunologic reaction. At EF MEDISPA we only employ highly experienced Doctors or Nurses to perform our Platelet Rich Plasma treatments, therefore you can rest assured that they will put your safety first and do their best to provide the best quality of services striving to deliver optimum results.
