The beauty industry is full of overwhelming terms that can be hard to understand, especially when it comes to fat reduction techniques. You may have some lumps and bumps that you’re desperate to have smoothed out, yet it seems impossible to know whether liposuction, Vaser Lipo, or laser liposuction are right for you! Luckily, it’s part of our job at EF MEDISPA to make it as simple as possible, so you can focus on feeling fantastic about yourself again.
In short, Vaser Lipo is a less invasive and more advanced form of liposuction. It has the same end result of removing unwanted fat from the body, but the process is much more gentle and less risky, which means it has a much shorter recovery time than the traditional liposuction methods. It uses a ultrasound probe to gently suck the fat from the targeted areas, refining your silhouette, but causes very little damage to the surrounding tissue and blood vessels.
EF MEDISPA was one of the first clinics in the UK to bring this cutting edge ultrasonic liposuction technology over from the USA, so you’re in brilliant hands for your procedure. It’s now fast replacing laser lipo as the go-to minimally invasive body sculpting treatment. It’s performed by one of our highly experienced surgeons, and a local anaesthetic will ensure you feel no pain.
What is Vaser Lipo?
VASER, introduced in 2002, actually stands for ‘Vibration Amplification of Sound Energy at Resonance’, and it is this sound energy that is used to liquefy the fat cells exactly where you want, giving you the figure you have always wanted.
Vaser Lipo's precise and focused ultrasound technology is a much more advanced system than traditional liposuction and since it only targets the fat cells, which are then removed using suction, it causes significantly less damage to other tissue like blood vessels, reducing bruising, pain and recovery time.
Where can you have Vaser Lipo?
What Vaser Lipo options are there?
Vaser Lipo can be further broken down into three main types of procedures, and each one has its own unique benefits, while still offering incredible results.
- Vaser Lipo - removes fat from stubborn areas resulting in a smoother and slimmer silhouette. On women, it is ideal for treating love handles, and those annoying rolls around your bra line; and on men, it is very popular for gynecomastia, otherwise known as getting rid of ‘man boobs’.
- Vaser Hi-Def - targets both deep and superficial fat surrounding the muscles. This is ideal if you not only want to reduce fat, but are also seeking a more toned and defined physique.
- Vaser 4D - similar to Vaser Hi-Def, but works with your own personal muscle structure, offering very natural definition to desired areas, such as the abdominal muscles.
You can also choose to combine Vaser Liposuction with Fat Transfer, removing undesirable fat and transferring it to another area of your body to accentuate curves in all the right places!
How good are the results?
Vaser Liposuction can deliver outstanding results. Many of our clients can notice a result straight away and the improvement in the treated areas will become prominent in the months following the procedure.
What happens during the Vaser Lipo procedure?
After you arrive at your EF MEDISPA clinic, you'll meet with your surgeon and get introduced to the nursing staff and anaesthetist (if required) for your procedure.
The procedure itself is performed under local anaesthetic or conscious sedation depending on your medical needs. The Vaser ultrasound probe is very thin, and is inserted through a small incision, into which a special saline solution is injected to numb the area and shrink local blood vessels. The probe directly transmits ultrasound waves which liquefy the fat cells while keeping damage to blood vessels and surrounding tissue to a minimum. The liquefied fat cells are then gently suctioned out.
The entire treatment can last from 45 minutes up to 3 hours, depending on the areas targeted. Vaser Lipo does not require an overnight stay and once the procedure is finished, nurses will help you fit into a support garment and the doctor will supply you with painkillers and antibiotics and advise you on aftercare, then book you in for a follow up review appointment.
How long is the recovery time?
Vaser Liposuction is a minimally invasive technique and it does not require much downtime at all. Most patients returning to work in 1-3 days and, although strenuous activity should be avoided at first, most return to their normal routine within 3-14 days.
At EF MEDISPA we offer a bespoke package of aftercare treatments and special compression garments to help your skin contract smoothly to the body's new contours, enhance the healing process, and ensure you enjoy optimum results.

Step by Step Vaser Liposuction
1 NO OBLIGATION CONSULTATION
Your first step is a NO OBLIGATION consultation with one of EF MEDISPA’s expert treatment coordinators who will take your full medical history, listen to your concerns and talk to you about the procedure in detail. After that first consultation, your consultation with the doctor will be booked.
2 MEET YOUR PRACTITIONER
Should you decide to move forward with Vaser Lipo, you will meet one of our EF MEDISPA highly experienced surgeons. During your 1st appointment with the doctor you will have the time to discuss your medical history, desirable results and get answers to any medical questions that you may have about the procedure. The doctor will be the one to determine whether you are suited to the procedure and determine the time duration according to the areas you want to treat.
3 BEFORE THE PROCEDURE
If you decide to proceed, on the day of your surgery you will meet the surgeon again to discuss any last minute questions you may have and ask you for your final consent before the procedure. You will then be introduced to the nursing team and possibly an anaesthetist who will be responsible for making the procedure as comfortable as possible.
4 DURING THE PROCEDURE
Vaser Lipo at EF MEDISPA is performed under local anaesthetic or conscious sedation. Firstly a small incision will be made in the area to be treated. A small probe is then inserted which transmits ultrasound waves that will liquefy the fat. The fat will then gently be sucked out and removed from your body whilst ensuring minimum damage to the surrounding tissues.
5 AFTER THE PROCEDURE
When the procedure is over, the nurses will fit you into a support garment and the doctor will provide you with pain killers and antibiotics. Procedures carried out at EF MEDISPA are walk-in walk-out daytime surgery, which does not require an overnight stay. Before you leave the clinic you will be booked for a review appointment with the doctor who will be there to access your recovery and monitor your progress.
We think that aftercare is significant not only to help fast recovery but also to ensure optimum results. Therefore, after the procedure, we offer a bespoke package of aftercare treatments where the patient will have the chance to have ultrasound, manual and electro lymphatic massages and other treatments designed to help the healing process.
You will be able to discuss the aftercare program from your first consultation with your treatment coordinator, as well as the doctor and nurses before and after the surgery.
Vaser Liposuction FAQs
What is Vaser?
It is an advanced liposuction procedure that removes unwanted body fat whilst contouring the body at the same time. Hailed as an alternative to traditional liposuction, this advanced ultrasound technology is used to gently reshape your body.
How does Vaser differ from Liposuction?
This innovative technique can distinguish between healthy tissue, nerves and blood vessels from the targeted fat to be removed. The targeted fat can therefore be removed whilst preserving healthy tissue and allowing for rapid healing which traditional Lipo is unable to achieve.
How does Vaser Lipo work?
The selected area to be reshaped is filled with a specific type of saline solution numbing the area and shrinking the blood vessels, helping to reduce blood loss and bruising. This also makes it easier for the fatty tissue to be broken up by the ultrasound energy. A small probe is inserted into the selected area and ultrasound energy is transmitted (similar to that used for cataract removal from the eye) to break up fatty tissue while preserving other important tissues. Finally, a gentle suction process removes the liquefied fat whilst keeping damage to the surrounding tissue at a minimum.
What body areas can be treated with Vaser?
Any part of the body can be treated. Particularly popular areas include: abdomen, love handles, male chests, buttocks, hips, thighs, knees, back, arms, chin and neck areas.
How much fat can be removed with Vaser?
There are limits to how much fatty tissue can be safely taken from the body. During your complimentary consultation at EF MEDISPA you will find out what Vaser Lipo can do for you and how much fat can be removed. Please keep in mind that this procedure is not intended as a weight loss solution. The goal is to create a slimmer and more defined silhouette.
Where is Vaser performed?
It is performed at EF MEDISPA’s Kensington clinic which has a specially designed treatment room licensed by the Care Quality Commission. EF MEDISPA is open 7 days a week, which means there is always someone on hand to answer your queries after the procedure.
Who will perform the procedure?
EF MEDISPA has a dedicated medical team of surgeons who have been specially trained in this procedure, and skilled nurses who can provide expert aftercare.
How soon will I see my results?
Results can vary with every individual, the amount of fat removed, the number of areas treated, and so on. Though many have reported they see results immediately after the procedure, it may take up to 3-6 months to see a final result. It is important that you establish realistic expectations through discussion during your consultation at EF MEDISPA.
Can I gain weight after having Vaser? If so does the fat migrate to other areas?
After having Vaser, should you experience weight gain or loss, it will tend to be proportionately distributed over your entire body. Once you have fat removed with Vaser it is gone, however maintaining a healthy lifestyle through proper diet and exercise is required in order for the fat not to return or migrate. Normal ageing changes can also be expected.
Is Vaser right for me?
If you are frustrated by the resistance of certain body areas to diet and exercise, Vaser can provide a solution. If you are healthy and seeking a fast, low-pain solution to losing stubborn fat deposits, then Vaser could be your answer.
If you want to find out if Vaser is right for you just call and book a complimentary consultation with one of our friendly Treatment Coordinators.
What if Vaser is not right for me?
During your consultation at EF MEDISPA we will be able to assess what your needs are and will be able to present you with various treatment options. Should you find that Vaser is not for you don’t worry there are always other treatment options and solutions available to you at EF MEDISPA
